Dr. Jules Pretty

Dr. Jules N. Pretty, Head of Department, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Essex, was at Emory during the Spring Semester, 2007. He was a visiting Nat C. Robertson Distinguished Professor in Science and Society. During his time at Emory, February 19-23, 2007, he conducted several faculty meetings and presented two seminars open to the Emory community. The main focus of his presentations was sustainable agriculture, local food movements, and green exercise.

His first lecture; "Sustainable Agriculture: Towards a Brave New World?" was held on February 20, 2007 in the Cox Hall Ballroom. His second lecture was entitled "Green Exercise: The Mental and Physical Health Benefits of Connections to Nature" and held on February 22, 2007 at the Rollins School of Public Health. In addition to the Program in Science & Society, the Center for Health, Culture, and Society co-sponsored these events.
