Dr. Nat C. Robertson

The person who provided for the establishment of the Distinguished Professorship of Science and Society is Dr. Nat C. Robertson, who began his association with Emory as a student at the Oxford campus. Dr. Robertson received a BA degree with honors from the Emory College Chemistry department in 1929. He continued his research at Princeton, culminating in a Ph.D. in 1942. After holding positions at Gulf Oil and Air Products and Chemicals, Dr. Robertson retired as senior vice president of Air Products and Chemicals, and has held directorships of Marion Laboratories and C. H. Kline & Company. He is also a trustee of the Midwest Research Institute. Dr. Robertson was awarded an honorary doctor of science degree from Emory in 1970.
